Tuesdays with Dorie: French Yogurt Cake

This week's TWD recipe comes from the mind of Liliana of My Cookbook Addiction. She chose Dorie's French Yogurt Cake with Marmalade Glaze.

I made mine in a bundt pan so it would look prettier. I couldn't find lemon marmalade, and was going to make Dorie's lemon cream, but spent too much time in the kitchen from other adventures, and I was tired. Plus I did not feel like spending about .80 for 1 lemon, when I needed about 6. I miss my lemon tree! I used a lemon I had zested, juiced then froze for later use, thawed it out and it was just as good as new. I also snuck in some lemon juice too. I dusted it with powdered sugar instead. I used the almond meal as Dorie suggested, love that stuff!
I baked mine at 325' for about 45 minutes. I didn't have any issues like other's who said their cakes fell. We liked this cake, but I think it could be more lemony and the texture of mine came out different (not looking like Dorie's), Hmmm, I don't know, what do you think?

  5. Once you've been indulged with a lemon tree, yeah well... I can imagine it must be hard to come to the reality of paying up to a dollar for one! LOL But hey, Rachelle... when life doesn't give you lemon, don't make lemon marmelade! LOL ...kidding! Can you tel Spring's around the corner, with all my craziness? LOL

The bundt pan lemon yogurt cake looks great and so does the inderect lighting you've concoted for it!

  6. Mine didn't look like Dorie's either, but I'm guessing it's because we used the ground almonds and she didn't? Hers looks much lighter in color, not at all speckled. I like to think ours has character... :-)

  9. I think your bundt looks fabulous!!!

I also love a pronounced lemon flavor. I ended up brushing my loaf with some lemon syrup (1/4 C lemon juice, 1/4 C sugar - gently heat) and it really gave it more of that lemony tang.
