Red Toolbox DIY Tools and Carpentry Kits for Kids: Review

Red Toolbox is a new and innovative woodworking concept for kids offering parents and children the opportunity to spend quality time together while learning new skills. This just recently became available in the U.S. and is sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide and on Lowes.com.
Red Toolbox has designed a line of one-of-a-kind products that offer “quality time in a box” for kids and their parents. The line includes a wide variety of ergonomically designed tools that fit a child’s grip and original carpentry kits that allow kids to spend time with their parents building and creating while developing and practicing skills.
The line features tools made especially for kids – including a 10 piece tool set, work bench and cordless drill as well as a variety of projects such as a picture pack, bird house and interactive mini-golf holes that children can use well after they have been built. Red Toolbox kits work off a level system – with Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced projects. Each level increases in complexity – allowing kids to develop carpentry skills and enhance their creativity.

The role of the parent as guide and instructor is highly influential and likely to improve the outcome of work as well as provide a sense of belonging and satisfaction that is crucial for a child’s cognitive and emotional development.

-Through these projects, children learn independence, teamwork and self-esteem, all of which are building blocks for the child’s future.
-The working console has space for multiple projects and is mounted on a sturdy base, has the capability to adjust to various heights and can easily be folded and stowed away in seconds.
-Each level of the Red Toolbox carpentry kits allows children to acquire new skills and create projects tailored to that level, building upon skills learned in previous levels.
-Level one is for beginners and focuses on assembly, gluing, hammering, filing, fully guided bolting, decorating and painting.
-During level two, children learn guided drilling, semi guided bolting, guided cutting and intermediate sawing.
-Level three is a combination of skills learned during levels one and two, but expands to include guided work in advanced sawing.

Red Toolbox offers a host of very affordable projects – allowing parents and kids with even more of an opportunity to spend time together and enjoy a creative and educational experience.

We were sent a Mini Bug Barn that is a beginner level project, a 10 piece tool set which includes: Goggles, Tape Measure, Philips Screwdriver, flat screwdriver, Hammer, Saw, File, 2" clamp, Roller, Tool belt and also a Treasure Chest which is also a beginner lever project.
I just know my son is going to LOVE that tool set! He loves helping daddy in the garage, with whatever he's working on. Even when we redid this house, he was in here helping to paint, rip up carpet, fill in holes for the new bathroom floor, or just helping with his big sister's race cars and a wrench! I bet my youngest girl is going to love the bug barn, I can feel relieved about not finding my bowls outside where a little creepy crawly once stayed. Our oldest will probably take over the treasure chest and paint it all pretty with gems and such. But they won't know about these until Christmas, then they can be kept busy that weekend working on these fun projects when they're not playing with other new toys.

If you are looking for fun wood work crafts, I'd head over to Lowe's and check out these Red Toolbox DIY kits. These would be a great last minute Christmas gift for under your tree!
