Medifast Dutch Chocolate Shakes: Review

Did you know that National Chocolate Shake Day was Sept. 12? Yeah it was, but I've been busy and am just now telling you, remember for next year OK? Sweet Tooths across the nation can still enjoy the rich taste of a chocolate shake and also reap the benefits of a low calorie snack packed with vitamins and minerals when they chose any of the following Medifast Chocolate Shakes.

Dutch Chocolate Shake: This smooth yet mild-chocolate shake has all the flavor of a classic malt but at only 90 calories per serving and 11 g of protein, you won’t have all the guilt! It also includes 25 essential vitamins and minerals.

Swiss Mocha Shake: This savory shake is soy-based, heart healthy and gluten-free making it the perfect snack for any time of the day. It also has just 90 calories per serving and 11 g of protein.

Dark Chocolate Essential Antioxidant Shake: This fortified shake is enhanced with antioxidants and made with whey protein rather than soy. These shakes are not only rich in flavor but help the body improve resistance to infection, increase its energy supply, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and certain cancers, slow down the aging process, create healthy hair and skin. Each serving is also just 90 calories and includes 14 g of protein.

For more information about these and other Medifast products please visit http://www.medifast1.com/.

I was sent 2 of the Dutch Chocolate Shakes for review. My oldest recognized them, telling me a friend of hers drinks them. I chilled mine before I drank it. I wasn't a fan of how it tasted at first, but drank it anyways knowing it was good for me. My youngest who is a fan of these convenient chocolate milk containers, tasted it and didn't like it, lol. I told him it was Mommy's drink then. It wasn't a chalky aftertaste or anything false tasting, but it was nice and creamy and best chilled. They are only 90 calories per serving, Heart-healthy, lactose-free, Kosher Dairy, also formulated for Diabetics and a Vegetarian Product.

There are two NEW flavors of Musselman’s apple sauce: Totally Fruit Mixed Berry and Healthy Picks Granny Smith!

With the kids back in school now, Musselman’s Totally Fruit apple sauce is the perfect treat to pack in your child’s backpack for a healthy, delicious snack. Why? Because it offers the sweet taste kids love and it’s naturally sweetened with fruit juice, so it contains no high fructose corn syrup.

But it’s important for us Moms to stay healthy too! Their Healthy Picks apple sauce line is designed specifically for women with active, healthy lifestyles. So, after you pick the kids up from school or drop them off at soccer practice; we enjoy a quick snack that won’t leave us feeling guilty. Ok, it's great for the kids too!
Musselman’s Healthy Picks Granny Smith Apple Sauce
Healthy Picks apple sauce has a burst of flavor and nutrition in every bite. This Healthy snack provides a good daily source of fiber and calcium.

Musselman’s Totally Fruit Mixed Berry Apple SauceTotally Fruit apple sauce has a natural fruit taste your family will love, with NO high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors or flavors, you’ll know it’s good for them.

We were sent a package of Musselman's apple sauces and extra goodies. I really loved the Healthy Picks Granny Smith flavor, it was just like eating a tart green apple! Yes I was kind enough to share with the kids, so I only had one of them. The Totally Fruit Mixed Berry apple sauce I did save a couple for some muffins. I have been on a mini muffin kick lately, freezing them for the kid's lunch boxes. I really love the Totally Fruit line of apple sauces too, they are packed with flavor!

Grab Musselman's coupons here! Find Musselman's on Facebook too!

Good Morning Muffins
Adapted from their site. Makes 48 mini muffins

6 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups MUSSELMAN'S Totally Fruit Mixed Berry

Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a mini muffin tin and set aside. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter on high for about 30 to 60 seconds; set aside to cool slightly.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a large mixing bowl. In another large bowl, whisk together the eggs and brown sugar. Stir in the applesauce and melted butter until the mixture is smooth. Pour the apple mixture over the flour mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until combined and you can't see any traces of flour.
Fill the mini muffin tins about two-thirds full with batter (I use my smallest scooper). Bake for 12 minutes.

-closed- Pro Hair Tinsel: Tomoson Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Hair Flairs - Pro Hair Tinsel - Individual strands that tie-into hair at the root. The strands add sparkle, color, and metallic highlights to hair. You can shampoo, blow-dry, and style your hair like normal. You can even use a curling-iron or flat-iron up to 400 degrees F. They will last anywhere from 1 week to 6 weeks depending on the strength of the knot. Hair Flairs carries 19 colors that go from bold trendy colors to complementary colors. They are great for every day and special occasions and add a little touch of flair to your hair.

We were sent 2 colors of Hair Flairs, the gold and purple. I will admit I found it hard to put these in myself, as the strands kept sliding up and so I resorted to a cabbage patch doll (since kids were at school). It worked and the sparkled so pretty in the sun. I will have to attempt this again on my kids, maybe this weekend if we have time. Anyways, I first saw these in person in a check out girl's hair. I thought they looked neat and asked what they were since I had never seen anything like that before.
What do you think of these sparkly hair flairs? You'll want to be sure to check out the instructional video located on youtube also.

One "Mommy? I'm Hungry!" reader will win their own packs of Pro Hair Tinsel! (colors may vary)

-closed- Flashlight Keychain with Laser Pointer: Tomoson Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

If you own a cat, you probably know how fun these keychains are! Or you may use one for work presentations or working on home projects. I gave this to my Husband to use, he loved it until he realized the light kept coming on when in his pocket because the buttons are super sensitive to touch. It's a perfect size for keychains, or just keeping it handy in your purse or glove box.

You can see how far the laser points, can you see it?? Look close!

Light & Delish 400 Calories or Less Bookazine: Review

Hearst announces Light & Delish: 400 Calories or Less recipe bookazine based on Delish.Com.
Cooking healthy doesn't mean you have to serve bland food. When you use the right ingredients and cooking techniques, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert can be tasty and healthy. Light & Delish gives you the tools you need to lose weight and stay healthy, including more than 130 must-try recipes.

This is currently on newsstands nationwide since September 7, 2010 and on sale until December 13, 2010, Light & Delish is 118 pages, with a print run of 300,000 and a cover price of $9.99.

This marks the second Light & Delish: 400 Calories or Less bookazine that Hearst has published and features recipes developed and tested by the editors of Country Living, Good Housekeeping, and Redbook. The Fall 2010 issue includes meal ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner, created in healthy portion sizes, with flavorful, wholesome ingredients, and divided in categories such as Family Style, Trattoria Tonight, Mexican Fiesta, and Guilt-Free Desserts.

The magazine highlights healthy makeovers, offering easy, low-calorie recipes for family-style classics, mouth-watering Italian dishes, Mexican favorites, Asian buffet staples, and Bistro courses, as well as delicious desserts. Also included are healthy cooking tips, advice for eating smart when dining out, and a guide to wine and cheese, with pairing suggestions.

Throughout the pages of Light & Delish, readers are driven to Delish.com for more recipes, tips, and how-to videos. In addition, readers can create their own online recipe book, access the advanced recipe finder tool, sign up for the free weekly newsletter, and get coupons.

We were sent a copy of this Light & Delish and let me tell you! It is full of all kinds of good stuff! I made 2 recipes from it so far and have others marked. I found these recipes online also, but their nutritional values are different than what's posted in the bookazine (ingredients are the same). ??? Anyways, what I made was great we all enjoyed these 2 of many recipes they've shared. I will share the online recipe version on my recipe blog.

Penne with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe from Good Housekeeping
-We loved the simplicity of this recipe since it calls for just 8 ingredients and the flavors were great as well. I couldn't find broccoli rabe, so I used regular broccoli.

Chicken Tacos with Charred Salsa from Redbook
-This recipe takes some prep time. I roasted a whole chicken then shredded it. For the salsa, I charred the vegetables on a very hot cast iron pan, then blended it all up. On the same cast iron pan, I warmed up the little corn tortillas. We all enjoyed this recipe as well, and ate leftover salsa and guacamole with chips.
