-closed- alternaVites Quick Dissolving Multi Vitamins and Minerals: Tomoson Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Through Tomoson.com I was able to review alternaVites, a powder form of multivitamins and minerals.
alternaVites was developed because no one needs another pill, tablet or capsule when it comes to vitamins. The world doesn’t need another vitamin, it needs a breakthrough vitamins. As there are over 100 million Americans that have difficulty swallowing pills (of which I am one), alternaVites lets you keep the vitamins while losing the pill. Unlike anything else currently on the market, alternaVites multivitamin & mineral crystals contain 23 essential nutrients that are simply sprinkled on your tongue as they then dissolve in seconds. Whats more? alternaVites tastes delicious (mixed berry flavor), has no aftertaste, requires no water or preparation, and are packaged in daily dose packets for convenience and portability.
Using a proprietary blend of ingredients, the alternaVitesä formula meets or exceeds that of leading national brands on the market.

And alternaVites is just as remarkable for what it doesn’t contain as for what it does: no sugar, no animal products or by products, no artificial colors, artificial flavors or preservatives, no chemicals used to glue pills together.
With alternaVites there are no more excuses not to take your vitamins.

You can also find them on facebook too.

These come in a single use tube, and look like the powder drinks you add to water. You add just a little to your tongue at a time until it dissolves. I was sent the berry flavor but found it didn't taste so great. Even though I poured a little in my mouth, I couldn't get it to dissolve quick enough before I was almost choking on the powdery puff of smoke it gave off, and went up my nose making me choke on it. I couldn't even finish the whole packet, I found it too overwhelming. They say not to add to water, but I don't see what that would hurt? It'd be a lot easier to take I'd think. Overall, I personally didn't care much for these, the idea was great but didn't work for me. If you'd like to try them out for yourself, enter to win a box below.

One "Mommy? I'm Hungry!" reader will win a 30 day pack of alternaVites!

Shout Fall Play :Growing Tree Toys Review

As a Shout Go Play Mom through Growing Tree Toys, we were sent their promo pack Shout Fall Play products for review. We were sent an assortment of Shout products, along with the card set “52 Activities is Nature”. Shout Go Play's initiative is recognizing the value of unstructured Play with your children, outside. Get out there, go have fun, play and know it's OK to get dirty. Check out more on Shout's Facebook page and for some great learning toys, check out Growing Tree Toys website!

Here in San Diego we don't get a typical Fall season. I would love to go pick apples or see the pretty trees with their changing leaves. The pumpkin place we usually go to ran out of pumpkins early! So we stuck to the same daily play, running out in the yard, going to the park or visiting down town and leaning and climbing on the walls or running up and down the stairs or sitting in the bird messes. Yeah, that was our day when we took Grandma & Grandpa to Seaport Village the other day. Kids had a lot of energy to let loose. Fall here also means the end of the girls race season. Now that's a dirty play ground! You should see their cars and suits after their races, covered in clay!

The Shout stain remover sure helped with the bird mess on little boy's shorts. I tossed a color catcher sheet in with a load of colors, and it really does work! I forgot to take a picture, but it came out tinted pink.

SeaPak Shrimp Company's All-New Popcorn Fish: Review

We were lucky to have recieved the new SeaPak Shrimp Company Popcorn Fish for review.
SeaPak Shrimp Company, the industry leader in frozen shrimp and seafood for more than sixty years, announces an exciting and convenient product addition to their outstanding brand lineup: Popcorn Fish.

Modeled after the brand’s best-selling Popcorn Shrimp, SeaPak Popcorn Fish serves as a delicious and sophisticated twist on the traditional minced fish stick. Popcorn Fish are round, bite-sized treats that are cut from whole, flaky Pollock fillets and are ideal for a variety of occasions from snack-time to appetizers and even as a center-of-the-plate dish. The quality fish is perfectly breaded with SeaPak’s signature, golden breadcrumb coating and is popping with flavor, making it appealing to adults and children.

Packaged in consumer-preferred, re-sealable bags that lock in freshness, Popcorn Fish is the ideal item to keep on hand for a quick seafood solution. Whether baked or fried at home, the genuine fish flavor always comes through, which makes this such a great product. As a versatile and accessible seafood option, it is the perfect addition to a variety of meal or snack occasions. It can be popped inside a tortilla for a fresh take on tacos, on top of a salad as a “crouton with protein,” or served as a center of the plate meal with a variety of savory and sweet sauces.

Compared to the recognizable fish stick, SeaPak Popcorn Fish is lower in saturated fat and calories than other popular brands and is made without high fructose corn syrup and MSG.
A product of the U.S.A., SeaPak Popcorn Fish rolls out nationally this fall with a suggested retail price of $6.49 a bag. Delicious recipes and a product locator can be found on http://www.seapak.com/.

I found this in the frozen section of our Super Walmart (Yes, San Diego now has 2 that I know of). These remind me of large chicken nugget balls (the only way I could get 1/3 of the kids to try them -they're not fish fans) or large tater tots. I decided I would make some simple fish tacos with these. I made a simple cilantro slaw and added salsa. These are really good! I liked them much better than fish sticks (we ate as kids). They're a solid piece of fish, nothing minced there. If you and your kids love fish, give these a try!

I also wanted to share some Halloween recipe ideas with SeaPak products:

Witch’s Fingers with Dragon Tails
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 14 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

2 packages (8.2 oz) SeaPak Tempura Shrimp
1 red bell pepper
1 lb fresh asparagus spears
2-3 tablespoons olive oil
Garlic salt

Preheat oven to 450°. Bake Tempura Shrimp for 12 to 14 minutes according to package instructions. Remove from oven and cut off tails. Make a small slice in opposite side of the shrimp to insert the “Witch’s Finger.” To create the “Witch’s Finger,” wash bell pepper and remove top and bottom. Remove seeds from pepper. Cut pepper into thin strip, cutting one end at a point. Strips should be approximately 1 x ½ inch. Insert bell pepper strips into shrimp. For the “Dragon Tails,” wash the asparagus and trim tough edges off stalks. Place in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil; toss until coated. Arrange the asparagus in a single layer in the baking dish and sprinkle with garlic salt. Bake for 9-10 minutes at 450° or until desired level of tenderness.

Pumpkin Patch Salad
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Cook Time: 14 minutes
Makes: 4 large salads or 6 side salads

1 package (22 oz) SeaPak Popcorn Fish
1-2 heads of green leaf lettuce
2 cucumbers
1 red bell pepper
1 bag sliced carrots or 2 large carrots peeled and sliced on the diagonal
Dressing of choice

Preheat oven to 450°. Bake Popcorn Fish for 14 minutes or until full cooked. Cut green lettuce and portion into 4 bowls. Slice cucumbers and place between lettuce and the bowl to form the fence around the pumpkin patch. Cut red bell pepper into strips. Slide one strip into the corners of the dish to form fence posts. Tuck carrots slices into the salads in front of the cucumber slices. Add Popcorn Fish to the top of the salad to make the pumpkins. Serve with dressing of choice.
