One Sweet Cookie: Celebrated Chefs Share Favorite Recipes by Tracey Zabar is a wonderful collection of recipes extraordinary chefs, pastry chefs and bakers such as Thomas Keller, Tom Colicchio, Jonathan Waxman, Mario Batali, Karen DaMasco, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Lidia Bastianich, Todd English, Sarabeth Levine, Marc Murphy, Nancy Olson, and many more as well as her own family's recipes.

One way to satisfy her obsession of cookies is to host an old-fashioned cookie swap in her home. Zabar’s family have been honoring this tradition for more than 50 years, and she looks forward every year to gathering with her friends to share favorite recipes and cookies. It was at one of these cookie swaps where the idea for her new book One Sweet Cookie: Celebrated Chefs Share Favorite Recipes was born. Zabar thought how much her fellow cookie lovers would appreciate a book that not only shares some of her and her family’s beloved recipes, but also the recipes of some of the country’s most renowned chefs and bakers – a virtual cookie swap featuring signature recipes and baker’s secrets from the biggest names in the food world.
 

For my recipe review I chose to bake the Flourless Chocolate Cookies from François Payard of François Payard Bakery. You may find the same recipe here online as well. Now, something did not work for me in the recipe, but I will take full blame. I have been using my convection oven setting for everything, and I think it did not work for these cooking, being a meringue base cookie. These cookies came out really flat, chewy-stick to you teeth, as well as sticking to my silpat. Also I used my small scooper because at first I used my biggest one (reg. ice cream scooper size) and they were too big and spread like a wild fire. Hmmm. Well the kids still liked them so they didn't go to waste. Next time (because these are gluten free, yay) I'll use my regular oven setting.

This is a nice 192 page book, photos of some recipes, full of all kinds of recipes from brownies, cookies, meringues, shortbread to even doughnuts.
