The Caveman Bakery is a small company based in New York City, dedicated to creating unique, healthful and tasty treats that are consistent with the principles of the Paleolithic Diet (aka the "Caveman Diet").
With many nutritionists tracing serious health problems to the ingestion of refined sugars trans fats, salt and high-glycemic carbohydrates, the gluten-free, Paleolithic Diet is gaining in popularity beyond the health food store and into mainstream groceries and online retailers.
I was sent to of their flavors, the Rainforest and Alpine. The Rainforest cookies are made with honey, almond meal, brazil nut meal, chopped almonds, dried cherries, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper. They have a taste of a spice cookie and the cayenne will subtly hit your throat later on. I would have liked these cookies more if there wasn't cayenne in them.
The Apline cookies have honey, hazelnut meal, almond meal, toasted ground carob in them. These are like a chocolate and nut flavor, and were my favorite of the two.
Follow along with them on Facebook and Twitter also.

where they chewy or gooey?
ReplyDeleteHi Lynette,
ReplyDeleteThese cookies are a dense, a little sticky, chewy kind of cookie. =)
I probably wouldn't enjoy cayenne in my cookies either...but the Alpine ones sound yummy! =)
ReplyDeleteHmmm I've seen some recipes around with Cayenne in cookies, not sure I'd like them. I like how healthy they are though!
