I made this cake today and It was a big hit with the family! I was kind of worried that the cookies baked into the cake would be weird, but after baking they actually take on a fudge like consistency. Next time I make this I will double the ingredients for the filling though. It didn't yield as much as I would have liked and the small amount of whipping cream in my mixer made it hard for the beater to whip it properly. I ended up doing most of the whipping by hand. Definitely a new family favorite!
Made is today for an April babies bday celebration. I made the cakes GF and doubled the icing recipe (used cream & less sugar). OMG DELICIOUS!! Best bday cake i've ever made for myself. Thanks for sharing.
My heart almost stopped beating when I saw this post! I love oreos and am obsessed with them! I am very excited to try this recipe out :) Thanks
Oreo cookies in a cake - yummie. This dark chocolate dough looks fantastic!
It's kind of crazy - I ran across this recipe on Pinterest looking for a yummy chocolate cake recipe to make for my son's B-Day on August 8th....same day you posted a few years ago. Weird. Guess it was meant to be and this is the recipe to use! I'm going to make it tomorrow.
This cake looks great and I would love to make it for a birthday next week!
I was only wondering:
when it says 1-3/4 c. all-purpose flour
does that mean I have to take 1 cup + 3/4 of a cup? Or should I do minimum of 3/4 cup and maximum of 1 cup of flour?
I would really apprectiate if you could help me out! :))
Hello Anonymous, Yes, you use 1 and 3/4 cup flour. :) Enjoy!
Looks yummy!! Always make my family's birthday cakes, and my nephew said he wants an oreo cake, going to make this one! Thank you for posting!!! Curious, do you you put the oreo halves in both layers? It looks like it in the picture, but it says on one layer. But my mom brain might not be working yet today! Thank you! Cant wait to try!!
Hi Jasmine, Yes you'll add cookies to both layers. I'll add that in, thanks for mentioning it. Enjoy! :)
I made this cake last night and it's absolutely amazing. So moist and perfect! The parchment paper is an absolute must though. I didn't have any so I just went with it and it was a hassle getting the cake out. I made way more cream filling than the recipe called for and spread it throughout the center of the cake. :) Such a great recipe! Thank you so much! My housemates love it!
This cake was so moist and delicious! Made it for my son's birthday party, and used it as a "Dirt Truck" (Digger) Cake. Perfect! Did you put oreos in both layers? I was slightly confused, but tried it in both layers and it worked out well. Did your oreos float up into the batter?
Hi Louise, I did put cookies in both layers. Mine floated maybe just a little but that's ok. Your son's cake sounds adorable, mine is into anything wheels too. :)
Wats the second pan for ????? In mid of makin it
Hello Eve, this make 2 round layers.
this looks awesome. just wondering if you used regular cocoa powder or the dark (Dutch processed)?
Hello Andrea, I used the regular cocoa powder.
