300 Best Potato Recipes: A Complete Cook's Guide

300 Best Potato Recipes: A Complete Cook's Guide written Sloan-Mcintosh.
The humble potato is a culinary powerhouse and inspires adventurous and tantalizing fare.
A "desert island" vegetable if ever there was one, the potato appeals to all of us, whether in the form of traditional comfort dishes or in the guise of the new and exotic. Versatile, nutritious, inexpensive and unfailingly delicious, no other vegetable, and few foods in general, can make those claims.

Recipes include: Appetizers and snacks, soups and salads, side dishes, main courses, hearty vegetarian main dishes, baked goods and desserts make up this vast and colorful collection of recipes. The author also includes a complete history and origins of potatoes as well as a comprehensive chapter that covers hundreds of potato varieties.

These are just some of the delicious possibilities that the humble potato offers in this wide and varied assortment of recipes:

•Garlic roasties with rosemary
•Real English chips
•Gnocchi-roni and cheese
•All-American potato pancakes
•Sweet potato-crusted shrimp
•East Coast chowder
•Creole potato salad
•French potato galette
•Potato lasagna
•Sweet potato gnocchi
•Mennonite country potato doughnuts
•Potato fudge
Kathleen Sloan-Mcintosh is an author, food journalist and the owner and operator of the Black Dog Village Pub & Bistro in Bayfield, Ontario.

For my review, I decided that I would try the Grilled Potatoes with Cream Aioli this night. I simply boiled the potatoes for a quick 5 minutes, then I threaded them onto my rope skewer thing and grilled them for 10 minutes. The Aioli sauce is garlic, egg yolks, lemon huice, olive oil, dijon mustard salt and pepper and dill. These were delicious with our grilled steaks.
I have a 5 lb bag of Yukon Gold potatoes in my pantry that need to be used up, I'll have to look for a few other recipes in this book so I can use them up. This book sure has every kind of potato recipe you could possible think of.

Orchard Bars Giveaway and Review

Orchard Bars are loaded with real fruit, heart-healthy nuts, nutritious seeds, and protein-rich soy nuggets. No date paste filler, no peanuts, no strange substances from the lab. Just all-natural energy from fruits, nuts, and seeds.

As I was opening these packages, I was amazed how wonderful they smelled. Already I could tell they'd be good. They come in three great flavors.
-Blueberry Pomegranate & Almond is filled with real fruit and nuts.
-Pineapple Coconut & Macadamia tastes like you're in a tropical getaway.
-Strawberry Raspberry & Walnut loaded with sweet berry flavor.

•A Good Source of Protein
•Made with Heart-Healthy Nuts
•Rich in Antioxidants, High in Omega 3*
•All-Natural, Non-GMO, and 60% Organic
•No Preservatives, Trans-Fats, or Cholesterol
•Vegan & Kosher, Low in Sodium
•Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free

WoW, these are great, they are soft and have a sort of gelatinous/pureed texture to the fruit, I can't really explain it, they are really good. They're not like any other fruit bar I've tasted. I like all the flavors but the pineapple coconut & macadamia the best I think. If you like pineapple you'll like this one too. My little girl like that one too. If we happend to find them in a store here I'll be sure to grab some for snacks.

You can buy them online or check for a store near you here. Sadly, we don't have any near us, yet.

Kettle Cuisine Soups Giveaway and Review

Kettle Cuisine is an independent, artisan soup maker that has cooked uncompromised soup since 1986 by treating food the way it’s supposed to be treated at every step of the way—sourcing the best natural ingredients, preparing each ingredient properly and with painstaking attention to detail, and never adding anything unnecessary or artificial. Kettle Cuisine are All Natural, All Gluten Free Soups, Chilis and Chowders. Some are also vegetarian, dairy free and low fat.

When Jerry's daughter Kate was diagnosed with Celiac Disease nearly twenty years ago and was forced to live on a gluten free diet, Jerry quickly realized how limited the prepared food options were for this growing community of people. In 2006, when the FDA proposed a formal definition for gluten free foods, Jerry finally had his opportunity to serve this community with great tasting, wholesome, real food products. This line of ten single serving, frozen soups is now available in grocery stores in all fifty states.

I added some jalapenos & cheddar to mine served w/GF cornbread

I was sent 6 of their frozen varieties for review. Angus Beef Steak Chili with Beans, Chicken Chili with White Beans, New England Clam Chowder, Thai Curry Chicken Soup, Roasted Vegetable Soup and Tomato Soup with Garden Vegetables. Let me tell you, these soups are FANTASTIC. The flavors are all great and they come frozen in a singe serve 10 oz. bowl that you can either microwave or cook on the stove, and it just takes a few minutes. I really loved the Angus Beef Steak Chili with Beans with Angus beef a blend of Southwestern spices, red beans, ripe tomatoes, hand-chopped peppers and spicy green chilies. Wish I had more of it right now.

We were sent all five flavors to try out, actually two of each flavor, extras to send home with my Niece.
I was not able to get to personally review them because I am gluten free now, so they got to taste them for me. I can say they smelled really good. I made them ham and cheese sandwich fixings in the Everything Bagel flavor, boy these tortillas are soft. I even kept them in the freezer for longer life and took them out before I needed to use them. They were great for that. The kids enjoyed them. Mr. still hasn't tried them yet, but couldn't you imagine a Reuben on the Rye wrap? Mmm. These tortilla wraps would be great for the Holiday's meat leftovers for some great sandwich wraps.

This magazine has a lot of great treats. A few recipes that I have my eye on are the mini cherry pies (with raspberries in them too), the eggnog pumpkin pie and the pecan sticky buns. I chose to make my family the Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies. I cheated myself and used a box mix from another review and whipped up the peanut butter mixture. Mr. loves PB and chocolate so these did not stick around for long at all.
