*Sorry no Floating Islands for TWD this week, but check out Shari's great blog for the recipe!*
Happy Chinese New Year! This is the year of the Ox. Helping you celebrate a little late, I have 6 Wanchai Ferry Dinner Kits to giveaway! I am going to pick 3 winners to each receive 2 dinner kits of your choice.
I was sent some samples of the Spicy Garlic Chicken, so I cooked a box up for lunch time for me & Mr. I knew it'd be spicy, so I did it while the kids were at school. This made enough for 3 adults, so I doubt you'd get up to 6 servings. This was a little spicy, it does have red pepper flakes in it, but I could handle it (and I'm not one for too spicy). You toss the fresh chicken in the cornstarch and it makes it nice and crispy, the jasmine rice smells SO good while cooking, and the sauce was great. I added some bell peppers & onion blend to give it some color with the additional bamboo shoots. I've gotta say this was pretty darn good, for a meal from a box.
These dinner kits can provide up to six servings each when one pound of chicken is added, and can be customized with added vegetables or alternate proteins such as shrimp, beef and even tofu. Take a look at their site to learn more, and even print a $1 off coupon for your next purchase!
So, all you have to do is leave a comment and:
- tell me what Chinese sign you were born under (I'm year of the Tiger!)
- tell me what 2 flavors you would like to receive (see below)
- leave a valid email so I can contact you for your address if you win
Pick a flavor:
- Sweet & Sour Chicken
- Spicy Garlic Chicken
- Kung Pao Chicken
- Cashew Chicken
Giveaway ends: 7 pm pst, Monday, February 16, 2009
The fine print:
-Open to USA readers only please
-Winners will emailed, blogged and also be posted on my Twitter & Flickr
-I will choose a random winner using Random.org
Good luck!

I was born in the year of the dog, and my particular dog year is a water year, so I'm a water dog (the 5 elements, water, earth, fire, metal, and wood, go on a 60-year cycle). So... I can swim? Heh. I had a link for this, but it's down at the moment, so if you look up "chinese zodiac" on wikipedia, you can get an overview.
Our flavour preferences would be spicy garlic chicken and kung pao chicken.
