Susan G. Komen Partnership
As you may have known, October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. SunChips gave back to the community by partnering with the Susan G Komen Foundation, sponsoring races throughout the country last fall to support Breast Cancer Awareness. To see more information about the partnership, visit www.komen.org/SunChips.

We were sent a great package of SunChips products with four delicious BBQ-inspired recipes, a tote bag, tumbler, chip bowl, and a fall napkin set. Recipe cards to give them a new twist? Yes, SunChips outside of the bag and into your recipes! These chips smelled flavorful and they loved them out of the bags, though for my little one he said they were spicy.

cheese, onions, bacon, SunChips and more cheese...

Since these are not gluten free I let my family choose which recipe to make and they chose the Sweet & Spicy BBQ Grilled Bacon and Pepper Jack Quesadillas. For these you add the SunChips at the end of cooking time and they will soften a little so it's not like a crunchy quesadilla (ok I like chips in my tuna sandwiches, so why was I complaining?). They loved them, especially with the bacon.

I was also thinking these would be great as a crunchy coating to some baked chicken breasts with some cheese, bbq sauce drizzled over and topped with green onions.

Hello, Cereal Lovers: Peppermint Crunch Puppy Chow

We were sent another Hello, Cereal Lovers gift pack full of goodies to get us started on another delicious recipe to try out. In our box were varieties of Big G cereals, vanilla and cinnamon, cookie butter, delicious caramels and other goodies.

They also sent recipe cards so I tried the one for Peppermint Crunch Puppy Chow found on another blogger's site. I made a double batch so we could take some to family during Christmas. It was soooo delicious and easy to make.

Gluten Free Peppermint Crunch Puppy Chow
adapted from Sally's Baking Addiction

5 cups Rice Chex cereal (I used chocolate also)
10 ounces vanilla flavored Almond Bark
1 cup crushed candy canes
1 cup confectioners' (powdered) sugar

Pour 5 cups of Chex Cereal into a large bowl. Melt white chocolate/almond bark according to the package directions. Pour melted chocolate over cereal, stirring and folding until the cereal is completely covered. Fold in the crushed candy canes.

In a large zipped top bag or covered container, add the powdered sugar. Pour the chocolate covered cereal/candy canes into the large bag or container. Seal the bag or container and shake until all the cereal is coated with the powdered mixture. I sprinkled in some plain M&Ms also.

Discard excess powder. Store at room temperature up to 2 weeks, if it lasts that long!

I combined rice chex and chocolate chex for our puppy chow.

Hello Cereal Lovers Back To School Recipes: Cereal Almond Brittle

Hello Cereal Lovers! With Big G cereals, you can get creative with breakfast and snacks to help fuel your little learners and yourself during the school days. But don't think that cereal has to be just for eating as a bowl of cereal, because it can make some tasty treats too! Think about these goodies you could make:

I was sent a creative Big G Cereal back to school pack along with cereals and recipe cards. I decided to make their recipe for Cereal Almond Brittle as an afternoon treat. Oh wow, this smelled soooo yummy baking away!

Follow along with Hello Cereal Lovers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

Cereal Almond Brittle
from General Mills

2 cups Cheerios® cereal
2 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch® cereal
2 cups oats
1 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup real maple or maple-flavored syrup

Heat oven to 300°F. Line 1 large (17x14-inch) cookie sheet or 2 (15x10x1-inch) pans with foil; spray foil with cooking spray. In large bowl, mix both cereals, the oats and almonds; set aside.

In 1-quart saucepan, heat butter, brown sugar and syrup over medium heat, stirring frequently, until butter is melted and mixture boils. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until well coated. Spread mixture evenly on cookie sheet with rubber spatula until about 1/2 inch thick.

Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until almonds are golden brown. Cool completely, about 15 minutes. Break into pieces with fingers. Store in tightly covered container.

Expert Tips
The secret is not to stir the mixture the whole time it is baking and cooling. A sheet of brittle will form that can be broken into serving size pieces.

I packaged this brittle up for an after school treat for my kiddos. On each adorable line printed paper bag, I wrote silly little jokes on them. "Why didn't the teddy bear want any dessert? Because he was already stuffed!" heeeheee
The glitter smelly pens are pretty awesome too, they really smell like fruits and write so nice! The kids thought these were so cute and loved the brittle too.

Cranberry Chocolate Crunch Bark

My Sister in law brought this last year at Christmas, I just loved the rice crispy cereal in this! I have since lost the recipe somewhere, but was happy to see it posted recently. I made a batch of this to add to my little one's teacher gift. This is so good!

Cranberry Chocolate Crunch Bark
adapted by Mom Central's post

1 package (24 ounces) vanilla -flavored almond bark, coarsely chopped (in the baking aisle of the supermarket)
¾ cup whole or slivered almonds, coarsely chopped
¾ cup sweetened dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
2 cups crisp rice cereal
10 oz dark/semi sweet chocolate, melted for drizzling

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place into the freezer at least 1 hour.
Place almond bark into a double boiler bowl, heat and stir until melted, being sure NO water gets into the chocolate bark.
Heat a small frying pan and toast nuts at a medium low temperature until golden brown. Keep an eye on the nuts so they don’t burn. Just takes a few minutes, be sure to stir them.
Remove from heat and add cranberries to the pan. Stir until combined.
Stir cereal and half of the nut mixture into melted bark.
Pour bark mixture onto cold tray, spreading evenly. Immediately sprinkle with remaining nut mixture and press lightly onto surface of bark.
Drizzle with melted dark chocolate, let stand 7-10 minutes or until bark is set. You could also place in the fridge for a bit to set quicker.
Bring edges of parchment up over bark and break into various size pieces.

Yield: about 1 cookie tray full

Tips:

•You can use two packages (12 ounces each) premium white or chocolate-flavored confectionery coating candy wafers instead of the almond bark.
•When melting almond bark, make sure your bowl and utensils are completely dry. Even
one drop of water will cause almond bark to harden and clump.
-Instead of a dark chocolate drizzle, you could also melt white chocolate and color it red or green with food coloring, festive for Christmas!

Here's another simple snack idea since my other one went over well.
Spread a banana with peanut butter, slice into bite size pieces, roll in rice krispie cereal (cocoa krispies would be great too!)
