Spark Review and Giveaway: Shell Motor Oil Matters‏

Did you know April was both National Car Care and National Informed Women Month and a perfect opportunity to get empowered to care for your car! Did you know that in the United States the average age of cars and light trucks on the roads today has reached a record high of 9.4 years? That means it´s more important than ever to take proper care of your vehicle.

With the informative Web site http://www.motoroilmatters.org/default.php (created by the maker of industry-leading brands Pennzoil and Quaker State) you can easily locate key information about how quality motor oils can help prolong your engine´s life and improve overall efficiency, as well as help answer other questions you may have about motor oil.
In addition, the site offers a fun, educational game for you to play called "M.O.M. Knows Best" where you can put your motor mind to the test with an interactive quiz.

Did you know?
-According to a recent survey from the Automotive Service Association, more than 54 percent of customers who take their vehicles for service and repair are women
-Using a high-quality motor oil in the right grade can help maximize fuel economy
-Low-quality oils that do not meet industry standards or the vehicle manufacturer´s requirements could cost consumers in the long run by potentially damaging the vehicle´s engine or possibly voiding the manufacturer´s warranty
-Another reason to look to a high-quality motor oil - like Pennzoil and Quaker State - is that it is designed to meet the demands of today´s engines

OK, my Husband is the one who does all the autmotive work here, but when I said we have a free oil change to use up he was all for it. However, I have never gotten around to it yet. Bad, I know, and it's less than 2 miles away!! I even offered to have my Father in Law get his done while he was in town visiting but he said he'd wait till he got home. Mr. says it needs to be done, so it will happen soon, I promise!

Here is a useful list of some quick and easy tips from the women automotive experts at AskPatty.com, one of the leading women-friendly automotive Web sites, that I was offered to share with my readers on preparing your vehicle for spring.

I was able to ask questions to Jody DeVere the CEO of AskPatty.com, about this Shell Motor Oil Matters Spark. Here are some simple question about automotive oil:

How do you know which oil is best for your car?
Your owner’s manual is a great place to start. Know that motor oil is a high-tech product that performs a critical role within the engine; its quality matters. MotorOilMatters.org has a feature which can be found here: http://ew5.earlweb.com/search.php?site=52 which helps you chose the best oil for your car and driving habits.

What’s one way you can maximize fuel economy and save money without damaging your engine?
Motor oil isn’t something you want to skimp on. Using high quality motor oil like Pennzoil or Quaker State in the proper weight and grade can help maximize fuel economy. Investing in high-quality motor oil is worth minimizing the hassle of engine related failure – it’s cheap “peace of mind.

If you don’t change your oil regularly, how will it affect the car?
Changing your oil to meet your vehicles specification is the key to the survival of your vehicle. Using high-quality motor oil is also vital to protecting your investment. If major engine damage occurs from the use of motor oil that does not meet the manufacture’s specifications, rebuilding or replacing an engine can cost between $1,500 to $3000, or more.

What is the best way to clean up any spilled oil?
Most filling stations have a supply of oil cleanup compound on hand. This is a product that is very similar to kitty litter. You spread it over the fresh oil spill and it absorbs it. If you then brush it around, it also cleanses the concrete to a degree. This product can really do a good job on fresh oil spills. Many automotive parts businesses sell this product. It is a good thing to have on hand.

Oh, my oil change is literally past due and this would be perfect! We drive A LOT! Over an hour to work everyday through every terrain (mountain, city, highway) and back...this will be perfect!

My husband is a freak about oil being changed. Every 3000 miles, and only using synthetic oil. It was changed on May 1.

My oil was changed...2 months ago? It was before the baby (7 weeks old) was born, I know that

Well, it was recently...like last month. I am super crazy about changing it every 3000 mi on the dot. It drives my hubby insane, but I know it's what will make my car last the longest!
