MamaBuzz Review and Giveaway: Purely Products: Pocket Purifier and Sun Mate

Through MamaBuzz we reviewed two Purely Products, the Pocket Purifier and the Sun Mate. Purely Products are responsible products for responsible living.
Purely is focused on developing eco-friendly products for clean and healthy living for families, while also helping kids.

The handheld germ eliminating light uses UV (ultraviolet light) to sanitize surfaces (keyboards, cell phones, computer keyboards, kitchen counter tops, sinks, public bathrooms & transportation, toys, pacifiers, bottoms/interior of purses & diaper bags, etc) UV nanotechnology kills 99.9% of germs that cause colds & flu, plus e-coli, salmonella, mold, fungus, and MRSA (staph) without chemicals.

Purely Products is an eco-friendly company focused on bringing to market products that make clean, healthy living easier for families – all the while helping kids. We’re all about families taking small steps that can make a difference in the quality of their lives.

This pocket purifier is great for just about everything! The kitchen , bathrooms, home office, work office, out in public!

Even LPGA Tour Pro Natalie Gulbis, their spokesperson, keeps it in her golf bag and uses it all the time because she travels so much.

The Pocket Purifier takes 4 AA batteries. My sample was sent in Black but it also comes in Pink! These are $29.95 each and did you know that a percentage of every Purely Products purchase supports http://www.diaperlove.org/ – a non-profit that provides diapers to children in need. Very cool!!

*There is a special deal going on for my readers who would like to buy this Pocket Purifuer anytime from now until August 5, 2010. You can get 25% off your entire order (excluding Purely UV germicidal replacement bulbs) by clicking here to use the offer.

Did this Pocket Purifier work? Really, how can I know? It's not something you can actually see happening, but I guess in the long run we'll know if we're sick or not. I used it on my computer's mouse as I was taking my photos. I found the flashlight feature to be nice and bright too. It's a nice small size, a little over 6" x 2" so it'll fit in most any bag or purse. But for about $30 I'd expect it to be better quality made, this seemed a little too cheapy plastic-y. I'd be afraid that if it were dropped it'd shatter. Maybe they can work on that?

The features of the pocket purifier are:
•Incorporates ultraviolet light and nanotechnology to eliminate 99.9% of germs that cause colds, and flu, plus e-coli, salmonella, mold, fungus and MRSA staph (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)
•Built in 4-watt germicidal ultraviolet light deactivates the DNA of bacteria, viruses and other pathogens destroying their ability to multiply
•Suitable for purifying masks, kitchen counters, sinks and utensils, bathroom surfaces, computer keyboards, remote controls, cell phones, nail clippers, shoes, clothing, bags, scissors, baby toys, pacifiers, diaper pails, cribs, strollers - most everyday items. UV light will not harm function of surfaces or items disinfected.
•Powered by 4 (AA) batteries for easy carrying and safe usage (Batteries not included)
•Convenient, lightweight, quick and easy to use
•Suitable for disinfecting most everyday items with exposure of 10-15 seconds.
•Available in convenient single, double and family-friendly four packs
•UV-C bulb effective for 9,000 hours (click here to order replacement bulb)

Another product we were sent to review is the Sun Mate. This little gadget measures the sun's ultraviolet strength instantly. It alerts you of possible over exposure with level indicators of 1-5. #1 being the lowest danger and 5 being higher extreme risk. These run $19.95

Features include:
•Alerts to possible over-exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun
•Easy to use and understand.
•Simply press the white button located at the top of the monitor
•LED indicators light up between 1 and 5 depending upon the intensity of the UV light
•Easy to carry and pack in beach bags, diaper bags, purses, sports bags, backpacks- just 2.5" tall and 2" wide.
•Take your 'mate' wherever you go
I took this with us to the San Diego County Fair, since we'd be there all of the 4th of July weekend watching our oldest race her Jr. Sprint car. Even though it was cloudy and gray skies most of the time, the sun did peek out a little and the Sun Mate indicator level was a #3 which is a 6-7 High Risk of the sun's ultraviolet rays. This is a great little tool to have and small enough for your pocket to go where ever you go.

Fun links for you: Find them on Twitter @purelyproducts and @diaperLove, Facebook, Purely Products and Diaper Love.
(we had a bad race weekend, her car broke 3 times, you can watch her main wreck here at 1:48 into the video or this view from our seats at 2:30 #53 white/purple car)

My daughter takes medications that require she stay out of the sun except for short periods of time. I'd love to win this to keep tabs on UV rays so I can keep her inside during particularly strong days.

I have an autistic child I work with...keeping a clean environment is imperative...

as for the sun mate I have no pigment in my skin, vitiligo, I run the risk of skin cancer
ten times the average person, it's a constant ...keeping my exposure to uv rays limited, or blocked with sunscreen, even in the winter.

Oh this would be great so I could see how bad it is going to be if we are going to go swimming and among other things so I know we have the right amount on protection on the kids. Also the other one is really cool so that way when I sell my kids old toys on line I know they are really clean.

I have had Ms for over 20 years and my daughteer has LQT syndrome with her heart so this would be very important to us in keeping our items clean that we use all the time, like our laptop and phones plus the remote controls I did not know this was out there and I love this idea very much.
