(day 1) Susan of Food.Baby picked Raisin Swirl Bread for this weeks TWD (go check out her photos! Perfect swirl! Plus she's got the recipe posted for ya!). I tried to plan ahead and wanted to bake this last Weds. but we had company come at the last minute, then I had to go help Mr. with a home he's fixing up, and then the orange I bought molded out on me...so today was the day with a new orange. Only today was a busy day too, so I had to let the dough chill in the fridge for a couple hours and bake it later, and let it cool then I lost my sunlight for photos.
I'm kinda nervous to see how my swirl came out. I guess I rolled it too long or something because I had lots of dough to tuck under, it cause my loaf to bake into a funny shape too. Anyways, I added in the extras such as, orange zest (of the whole orange!), cocoa, nutmeg and vanilla, Sure go all the way! It smelled SO good baking!
(day 2) Well, as you can see my swirls ended up in the corner. I know why. That extra dough, pushed them up. The swirls on the bottom, was the extra dough I tucked under.
Since I sliced this the next day, I found it a little dry. I wasn't so crazy about eating a plain slice, the flavors seemed different to me. So I made some regular french toast with fresh nectarines. It was really good! I think using this as bread pudding would be great too!
*On a side note, I am going to take a short break from TWD recipes and probably other recipes here too. Why? Because that house Mr. is fixing up, is our next home (to rent). We move in, in just weeks, and I've not yet packed!! ACK!
The landlord's wanted to redo almost everything there, so they hired my Mr. Contractor Handyman to do it, plus they gave us the choices on most of how we wanted it! A new kitchen!! YAY! But that's why my blog has been sparse lately, too much painting, ripping up carpet, etc... I do have a bunch of reviews and giveaways lined up, I'll get up between now and mid July, so don't run away! You can bet the first thing that will get unpacked is my other baby, my 'puter.
enjoy,

I feel you about loosing sunlight for photos. Great way to use the slightly dry bread for french toast. YUM!
I like the swirls kind of off to the side. Gives it character and a homemade look.
Yikes, with all you have going on, I amazed you had time to make this one. Sorry it was a bit dry (and I think your swirl is creative!)

Your bread looks wonderful! Good luck with the move.
Oh, yes! The French Toast looks so good! I might just have to give that a try with the few pieces I have left over!

Good luck with the move!! Nice job on the bread.
The French bread looks great! I made cinnamon rolls, but will for sure try this as swirl bread sometime.
Good luck with your move. We are moving across the states in less than two weeks. Ugh. Not fun.
