Progresso Recipe Starters MyBlogSpark Review

After a long day, preparing a delicious home-cooked meal can be quite a challenge, and getting started is often the hardest part. New Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ cooking sauces give you a head start to a home cooked meal! We want to give you an exclusive opportunity to get a sneak peek at Recipe Starters before they hit shelves so you can be among the first to review the delicious recipes on the new Progresso.com site!

Progresso Recipe Starters sauces will be available in five flavorful varieties that can each be used as a starter to create numerous home-cooked meals. Inspired by the five “Mother” Sauces that form the basis of classical French cooking, including Béchamel, Velouté, Tomato, Espagnole and Hollandaise, Recipe Starters use a variety of ingredients and the best techniques to make sure your family has endless solutions to the weeknight dinner dilemma. The five varieties are:

Creamy Parmesan Basil: This creamy, full-bodied and indulgent sauce that was inspired by alfredo and creamy pesto sauces can be used to make meals such as Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken, Creamy Chicken Alfredo, Basil Chicken Ravioli Carbonara and Basil Chicken Thai Noodle

Creamy Roasted Garlic with Chicken Stock: With caramelized, roasted chicken broth, garlic and a touch of cream, this stock is perfect for dishes such as Creamy Lemon Chicken, Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Enchiladas

Fire Roasted Tomato: A medium-thick tomato sauce, accompanied by flavors of roasted, caramelized tomatoes, oregano and bell peppers, which can be used as a great way to begin creating Pulled Chicken Sandwiches, Easy Weeknight Chicken Parmesan, Cheese-stuffed Mini Meat Loaves and Mole Tacos

Creamy Portabella Mushroom: Creamy and highly indulgent, this smooth sauce is rich with sautéed Portabella mushrooms, giving you any easy way to start decedent meals like Easy Weeknight Beef Stroganoff, Steak and Mushroom Sandwich and Tetrazzini

Creamy Three Cheese: Rich and creamy with a blend of yellow and white cheeses, and a savory background of chicken stock, onion, garlic and cracked pepper, this is a great way to satisfy cheese lovers with Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac & Cheese, Twice-Baked Potato Pizza and Cheesy Egg Breakfast Tacos.

For added inspiration, Progresso created 80 recipes utilizing this new line of cooking sauces that can be found on Progresso.com here. Many of these recipes are classic family favorites, such as Bacon Mac n’ Cheese, Chicken Pot Pie and Chicken Parmesan, and utilize ingredients your family may already have on-hand.
Progresso Recipe Starters will be available in stores later this summer – look for them in the soup aisles!

These recipe starters do have wheat in them (not gluten free), so my family will be enjoying them with out me. So far I have made them the bacon mac 'n cheese for lunch. They loved this. I can say how easy it made the recipe be, just heat up the sauce, add some milk, cheese and pasta then bake. These would be great for busy school nights.

Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese
3 cups uncooked penne pasta (10 oz)
1 can (18 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ creamy three cheese cooking sauce
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon chopped garlic in water (from 4.5-oz jar) or 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (6 oz)
2 oz American cheese loaf, shredded (1/2 cup) (I used cheese singles slices)
1 bag (2.5 oz) cooked real bacon pieces or bits
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper, if desired
Garnish, if desired
Progresso® Italian style panko crispy bread crumbs (I used crushed plain chips)

Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 2-quart casserole with cooking spray. Cook and drain pasta as directed on package.
Meanwhile, in 3-quart saucepan, heat cooking sauce, milk and garlic to boiling. Remove from heat; stir in cheeses until melted. Stir in pasta, bacon and bell pepper. Spoon into casserole.
Bake uncovered 20 minutes or until edges are bubbly. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
