Giveaway: Cans Get You Cooking: Baked Beans Review

This is a sponsored post on behalf of the Cans Get You Cooking program.

This month's Cans Get You Cooking post is using BUSH'S® Baked Beans. I love to use canned beans for many recipes, I like how convenient they are for everyday use. There is no soaking time, no long cooking time for them to turn soft, they are pretty much ready to use.

For this month's Cans Get You Cooking recipe, I am sharing our family favorite for baked beans. They are similar to my mom's and very popular at get togethers. It starts with ready made baked beans but I add in some magic with a long and slow cook time to turn them into something more. Mr. loves to brag about them to everyone.

We've got some weeks left of Summer, so why not give this recipe a try for your next BBQ? How about entering my giveaway below and I can help you with that!

Our Family Favorite Baked Beans
our family recipe, adapted

60 oz canned Original BUSH'S® Baked Beans, undrained
1 lb. bacon, raw, cut into pieces
1 large onion, diced
1 large green bell pepper, diced
3 tsp gluten free Worcestershire sauce
1 TBL dry mustard powder
2 Cups ketchup
1 1/2 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup molasses

Combine all ingredients and put into two greased casserole dishes (I used two 9x13, your pans may be full and you may want to add a baking sheet underneath it to catch any spills while baking & stirring). Cover with foil and bake low and slow at 275' for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Uncover for last 30 minutes.

Beans are versatile enough to be eaten plain on a burrito or added to a casserole. We eat them a variety of ways, all of which are family favorites.

I always use Bush's Vegetarian Baked Beans, and for my favorite recipe I stir in molasses, ketchup, bbq sauce, Liquid Smoke, chili powder, brown sugar, and dry mustard, then bake. So good!

My daughter's favorite meal is something I call 'beans & rice & kielbasa'. It's basically a very thick black bean soup made in a clay pot, with medallions of kielbasa, served on top of rice!
